Cracow and Wieliczka

The trip to Cracow & Wieliczka runs every Friday.

Cracow is one of the oldest Polish cities, with a history of over 1000 years, renowned for high cultural and architectural values. You will start sightseeing at the Barbican and follow the Royal Road to reach Wawel Royal Castle. The Florianska Street leads you to Main Square Market, where you will visit St Mary's Basilica with its famous and biggest in Europe gothic altar sculpted by master Veit Stoss. You will also listen to the Heynal, played each hour from the highest tour of the church.

You will see Cracow's trademark Sukiennice (Cloth Hall), Adam Mickiewicz Monument and historical houses surrounding the market. Afterwards, you will take Grodzka Street to reach Wawel Royal Castle, which is our national and cultural symbol. The Castle was the seat of Polish kings and leaders, their necropolis and heart of the Polish history. Individual tourists visiting Wawel Castle can see i.a.: Royal Apartments, Treasury, Armouries. Children always enjoy visiting Smocza Jama (The Dragon's Cave).

Krakow_4In the afternoon you will go to Wieliczka, where you will visit the Salt Mine, whose history dates back to the 13th century. It is the only mine in the world which has been continuously operating since the Middle Ages. Once the visit is over, you can rest in a unique complex of chambers situated 125 m under the ground where you will find souvenir shops, restaurant and post office.

It is worth reminding that in 1978 the Salt Mine in Wieliczka, Wawel Royal Castle, Old Town and Kazimierz district were listed World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
